About the Practitioners
Carrie Meyer, Registered Yoga Teacher, Registered Thai Therapist

I am passionate about helping people come back to centre – to reconnect with the truth within. For the past 5 years I have dedicated myself to finding balance, stillness, happiness and peace within my own life. I have dedicated myself to the practice of self-awareness and self-discovery so that I now live from a place of knowingness, abundance and joy, instead of a place of fear and obligation. I have had many teachers along the way, but am most grateful for the teachings that have been given to me by Satyen and Suzanne Raja and the Warriorsage community (www.warriorsage.com) and Diego Palma, Milagros, JaraTree, ShimShai and Suzanna and the traditional medicinal teachers of Peru.
There are many amazing quotes to live by, as you will find throughout this website. This quote by Rumi speaks volumes to me.
“Let the beauty of what we love be what we do..." Rumi
I am blessed to be living in beautiful Fernie, BC, Canada and to be doing what I love. I love the healing power of Yoga, and Traditional Thai Massage. It is my passion for helping others “get back into their bodies” and to facilitate deeper levels of physical, emotional and spiritual healing that led me to where I am today. I know firsthand that the breath and body movement which are the fundamental components of these two practices, are two keys to liberation.
I have been teaching creative flow and core stability classes in Fernie since the fall of 2007 and completed my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training with Trinity Yoga (now Giaitri Yoga www.gaiatri.com) in December 2007. Their program is highly regarded in the Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton yoga circuit and offers a classical yet contemporary approach to yoga, with influences in Ashtanga and Anusara. It is my commitment to continue to add to the tools that I provide my clients to help them maintain balance and happiness in their lives.
I continue my studies in Yoga Therapy with Susi-Hately Alduos (www.functionalsynergy.com) integrating the art of slowing down and body mechanics more deeply into my teaching, to aid those with chronic injury, pain or ongoing challenges.
My work integrates the skills and techniques of the 2500 + year old practice of Traditional Thai Massage (often referred to as Thai ‘Yoga’ Massage). I began studying the Northern Style of Thai Massage with Kristin Nuttall of SacredAsia School of Ancient Thai Massage (www.ancientthaimassage.ca) in November 2008 and have since completed a Thai Herbal Compress and Advanced Applications of Therapeutic Thai Massage Training. I meet monthly with other Thai Practitioners to share knowledge and expand my techniques.
I am a registered member with the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada, the Thai Healing Alliance and the Yoga Alliance.
I feel that my commitment to ensuring a safe environment and lasting experience is what makes your time with me unique.
I look forward to serving you.
